Dr. Lombardo gives us his thoughts on weight loss and why many different methods out in the marketplace fail.

So you finally resolved to focus on your health in 2017 and lose those extra pounds that have been hanging around and slowing you down. What’s next?  If you’re like most people I speak with, you have probably considered group programs, food delivery options, internet fad diets, or even the plethora of “cleanse” programs out there. Which one is best? Will it work? Will the weight come off and stay off, or will it just rebound right back?  In my experience, there really is no “one size fits all” approach to weight loss. The reasons are plenty: we all have different genetics, different diets, medications, sleep habits, lifestyles, stressors, etc. So, what do you do?

Here’s my question: What are your goals? Are you trying to lose weight, or lose fat? Are you planning a vacation and want to feel comfortable on the beach or fit into a dress for a wedding? Was there a health scare that made you reconsider your fitness and diet regimen? A real attainable resolution will require many checkpoints along the way to keep you motivated and encouraged to continue making healthy decisions with the end goal in mind. The broad resolve of “weight loss’ is just too vague for most people to stay on track.
