DermaPeel is our signature aesthetic treatment, which combines a chemical and physical exfoliation. A DermaPeel can be tailored for any skin type and sensitivity. Regular treatments improve overall texture and tone leaving the skin smoother and brighter.
WHAT ARE THE EXFOLIATION OPTIONS?
- Chemical Peels are composed of acids that exfoliate dead skin cells and stimulate new skin cells to come to the surface, making your skin appear healthier and more youthful.
- DermaSweep is a particle-free microdermabrasion treatment that combines brush tip exfoliation, topical solutions and variable vacuum pressure to achieve the most desired results. The dermasweep is often performed with Epi-infusion, nutrient rich topical solution to address dehydrated, hyperpigmented and acne-prone skin.
- Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade to removing the skin’s top layers through a method of pleasant sloughing. It can also remove the “peach fuzz” which can trap excess dirt and oil.
What will the procedure feel like?
The DermaSweep or Dermaplaning portion of this treatment is relatively painless. Once the peel is applied you may feel a mild-moderate stinging sensation.
Do I have to do anything to prepare in advance?
Discontinue use of any topical retinoids (Retin-A, Tazorac, Differin, Ziana, Epiduo, Tretinoin, Clear Plus, Avene Retrinal or Triacneal, Triluma, etc.) and mechanical or granular exfoliation for 5 days prior to treatment. Avoid facial waxing for 7 days prior to treatment.
Follow the recommended skin care regimen as directed by your service provider for treatment. Make sure your skin is not irritated or inflamed before a peel.
Please tell your provider if you have a history of cold sores as we recommend pretreatment to prevent a flare. Treatment may not be performed if there is an active cold sore.
What will I look like afterwards?
Your skin may appear slightly flushed post treatment. This will vary depending on the strength of treatment given. You may experience peeling 1-5 days post treatment. The amount of peeling can vary from invisible microscopic peeling to more noticeable dry skin flaking. In most cases your skin will feel instantly smoother and brighter.
How many treatments are necessary?
A series of treatments are recommended to start (4-6 treatments), spaced 2-4 weeks apart to achieve the best results and 4-6 weeks apart for maintenance. During your first treatment you will meet with your provider. At that time a treatment plan will be discussed.
When will I see results?
Results will vary per patient and realistic expectations will be discussed during your first treatment. Having a good at home regimen will help attain optimum results. In addition, smoking, excessive alcohol and excessive sun exposure will limit results.
Who cannot have the treatment?
DermaPeels are safe for all skin types and colors. Patients who have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) within the previous 6 months cannot have this treatment.
Pregnant and nursing patients: We can tailor all treatments using chemical peels and products that are safe for expectant or nursing mothers.
